Winchester Model 1873 .44-40. Made in 1886 and supported by a factory letter, serial 200428 has a 24-inch octagon-to-round barrel (.795-inch muzzle diameter, blade front sight, Marble’s rear sight). Features include a set trigger, deluxe wood (checkered, pistol grip with ebony inlay, crescent butt with trap, sling loop) and a color case action. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.8 pounds and the length-of-pull is 12.75 inches. CONDITION: The bore is viable (light roughness, strong rifling and some browning). Set does not engage. Hammer notches are solid. Lever is tight. Forearm cap has been drilled and is cracked. Metal finishes have browned. Wood has a hairline at the grip cap ebony.
