Ordered from A-Square in the 1980s and based on a Remington Model 30 Express action, serial 20454 has a 24-inch tapering heavy sporter barrel (muzzle diameter .660-inch) wearing a banded and hooded front sight topped by a brass-beaded blade, banded sling swivel stud, detachable side mount with 1-inch rings and a Lyman aperture rear sight. The sight/mount configuration permits use of both sighting systems concurrently and a second barrel lug was added for additional strength. The original trigger has been replaced with a Timney. Magazine capacity is four rounds feeding from the follower. Stocked from a superb laminated claro walnut blank to substantial profile, appointments include a rosewood forend tip, wrap checkering, scalloped cheek rest, steel grip cap, inletted Howell-type sling swivel stud and a Pachmayr recoil pad. The stock is glassed at the action and lug. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 9.8 pounds and length-of-pull is 13.5 inches. CONDITION: The bore is pristine. Feeding and ejection are positive. Trigger pull is sharp. Metal finish is approximately 99 percent. Wood is approximately 98 percent with trace handling impressions. AMMUNITION: Two boxes (40 rounds) of A-Square 400-grain ammo is included (20 rounds Monolithic Solids and 20 rounds Dead-Tough softs).
