Features include a polished blued finish, spiral-fluted bolt body, AA-grade claro walnut stock (ebony forend tip, wrap checkering with diamonds and ribbons, crossbolts with ebony plugs, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, steel grip cap, satin finish), detachable magazine and a Leuupold VX-3i 4.5-14×40 scope (Duplex reticle, matte, 1-inch tube). STOCK: Shaped from a AA-grade walnut blank in the classic style and wearing a satin finish, appointments include panel checkering, a steel grip cap and rounded sling swivel studs. Turnbull custom Winchester 1873 .45 Colt. Based on a Grade IV Navy of recent manufacture, serial 00022ZT73W has a 24-inch octagon barrel (full-length magazine tube, brass-beaded blade front sight). The receiver, hammer, lever, cap and checkered butt plate wear brilliant color case in contrast to rust blue over the barrel, tube, dust cover and trigger. The well-figured walnut is dressed with 26 lines-per-inch wrap checkering and a semi-gloss finish. The original Winchester box with correct end label, manual and oversleeve is included. Verney-Carron Model S1 .450-400 Nitro Express (3-inch) double rifle. Made in 2011, serial 8996 has 24-inch barrels (ramp front sight base with matted top and brass-beaded blade, sling swivel stud, quarter rib with matted top and windage-adjustable express leaf, ejectors, rust blue finish). Features include a color case receiver, mechanical thumb safety, AA-grade walnut stock (wrap checkering with Mullered borders, right hand palm swell, scalloped cheek rest, satin finish). A mercury recoil reduction tube has been added under the Pachmayr recoil pad. OPTIC: A quick-detaching Trijicon RMR sight has been fitted with rib modification by JJ Perodeau. ACCURACY: The factory test target shows a center-to-center spread of 1.325 inches between shots (50 meters, Hornady 400-grain bullets). Custom Winchester pre-64 Model 70 .257 Roberts. Logically attributed to Ike Ellis but unsigned, serial 108459 is based on a Model 70 action made in 1949 which appears to have originally been a .220 Swift (has Swift extractor ring, magazine box and a short follower). That said, the barrel stamp (underside at the lug) is “257 R 49”. The barrel has been reduced to 22 inches and recontoured so no evidence of drilling/tapping remains. Features include a rust blue finish, three-position safety, checkered bolt knob (two panels) and a reprofiled/ checkered bolt release button. Talley mounts (1-inch medium rings) are attached. Trigger pull is crisp. STOCK: Drawn from a heavily-figured AAA-grade English blank, formalities include an ebony forend tip, 24 lines-per-inch borderless wrap checkering highlighted by intricate fleurs, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, steel grip cap, sling swivel studs and a Pachmayr recoil pad. The action is bedded at the lug. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.2 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.45 inches. CONDITION: The bore is outstanding, strong and bright. Custom Winchester Model 70 .300 Winchester Magnum. Serial G1462212 has a 26-inch Hart barrel (1/10 twist, chambered tight by Hart, tapered crown, .655-inch muzzle diameter). STOCK: The McMillan synthetic stock has positive textured gripping surfaces, a soft Monte Carlo comb, Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad and sling swivel studs. The action beds on aluminum pillars and is glassed at the recoil lug. Short Action Customs fluted the bolt body and added the large bolt knob. Metal finish is Cerakote. No box, papers or build sheet. CAPACITY: Three plus one. (Four plus one is possible with pressure on the top round in the magazine.) A Weaver rail is attached.
