Made in New Haven, serial number G377986 is a controlled-round-feeding (CRF or Mauser-type claw extractor) dangerous game rifle featuring a tapering 24-inch heavy sporter barrel (.740 at muzzle) with hooded front ramp topped with white-beaded blade, banded sling swivel stud and island ERA adjustable rear sight with express blade. The action itself has the previously noted full-length extractor, jeweled bolt body, three-position wing safety, knurled bolt knob and all-steel bottom metal. The stock is shaped with a stout profile according to its intended purpose, including a “negative drop” to diminish felt recoil and encourage quick recovery. Forend checkering is a full wrapping pattern with large field, twin crossbolts add strength, the rear sling swivel stud is recessed (Howell-type) and the special Pachmayr Decelerator pad (marked “Winchester) provides the finishing touch. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.8 pounds and length-of-pull is 13.75 inches. CONDITION: Hanging tag is still attached. Appears to be new and unfired since leaving the Winchester factory circa 2000.
