Circa 1904, serial 6644 (matching) is built around the Webley-Brain screw-grip bolting system, secured at the doll’s head and the underlugs. It sports 30-inch fluid steel barrels choked IC/F with game rib, ejectors and a single brass bead. Bores are mirror bright and fully on face. The rib is inscribed “William Evans, From Purdey’s, 63. Pall Mall, St. James’s, London.” The action is Nitro-proofed for 1 1/8-ounce loads and is fitted with disc-set strikers, intercepting safety sears and an automatic safety. The receiver is graced with delicate scroll and ribbon to full coverage, the pattern extending over the guard, along the tang and top lever, over the forend furniture and blending onto the barrels. “SAFE” appears in gold and the initial plate remains blank. The rich walnut stock has a checkered butt and drop point accents. DIMENSIONS: LOP is 15 inches. Drops are 1.5 and 2.3 inches, and cast off is approximately .25 inch. Weight is 6.4 pounds and balance point is just forward of the hinge pin. CONDITION: As refurbished the barrels, action bottom, guard/tang, top lever and safety (rust blue) are about 99%. Receiver is absent colors. Markings and engraving are softened. Checkering is strong, with occasional flattening.
