Weatherby .378 Weatherby Magnum on Schultz & Larsen M54J rear-locking four-lug action. This wonderful early Weatherby, serial number 2387, was built during the time when Roy Weatherby depended on a variety of subcontractors to provide him with rifles. From 1955 until the early 1960s, the Danish firm of Schultz & Larsen was favored for this particular caliber – and few of these examples are likely to remain in this high condition. Features include a 26-inch barrel, rosewood forend tip and grip cap (with diamond inlay), Pachmayr recoil pad with the legend “Weatherby’s, Tomorrow’s Rifles Today, South Gate, California”, and bases. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.6 pounds and length-of-pull is 14 inches. CONDITION: Possibly unfired, and the bore is pristine. Both polished blue and wood finish are nearly 100%. A hairline crack on the left side of the stock begins at the forend tip and extends for about three inches. Careful examination under magnification suggests this happened during the manufacturing process and was stabilized prior to the original finish being added. The price is firm and a layaway program is available. $3,000.
