Stevens Favorite .22 LR custom takedown. A superb little rimfire, serial number H852 has a 24-inch tapering heavy barrel (.725-inch muzzle diameter) with a Beeches folding combination front sight. A Vernier-style sliding aperture rides the tang. Metal finish is rust blue over the barrel, fired over the small parts and the receiver appears to be in the white. The barrel is drilled and tapped for a scope base. The stock is shaped from a spectacular two-piece blank of English walnut as attributed to R.L. Ronnie. Highlights include a modest Schnabel, borderless 24 lines-per-inch wrap checkering with a forend diamond plus a steel grip cap with widow’s peak. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 6.4 pounds and length-of-pull is 12.75 inches. CONDITION: The bore sparkes as if new. Mechanics, including the extractor, operate properly. Barrel finish is at least 95 percent, with traces of handling and the ghosted outline of a mount. The receiver (appears to be absent finish) is smooth, with a few minor instances of tarnish. Colored metal parts are approximately 90 percent and wood is nearly 100 percent. Other than the caliber and serial, the rifle is unmarked. The price is firm and layaway is available. $1,500 plus shipping.
