Keith Stegall custom Winchester pre-64 Model 70 .338 Winchester Magnum. Created in 1964, serial number 340477 features a 22-inch plain barrel with tapered crown, Buehler adjustable base with one-inch low rings, jeweled bolt body and extractor, nickel bolt handle with single checkering panel and hollow bolt knob, serrated bolt release button, 26 lines-per-inch wrap checkering, checkered steel grip cap, scalloped cheekpiece with bold shadow line, slight Monte Carlo profile and a Pachmayr recoil pad. A trigger shoe is attached to the original trigger. MARKINGS: “K. Stegall .338 W.C.F.” appears on the barrel (chamber was cast and the rifle fired to confirm as .338 Winchester Magnum), “1/28/64” appears on the underside of the barrel and “K. Stegall” is stamped in the barrel channel. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.4 pounds and length-of-pull is 13.5 inches. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. The barrel was shortened from its original length, as one hole where a front sight was secured is visible near the muzzle. The plug screws usually found on the left side of the action are missing. Metal finish is approximately 97 percent, with but faint traces of wear. Wood condition and finish is at least 95 percent, with a modest scattering of field impressions, light scratches and one proper ding at the lower left of the pistol grip.
