Smith & Wesson pre-29 .44 Magnum. Made circa 1957, serial number 168761(matching 3x with “S” prefix) features a 4-inch barrel. 5-screw frame and diamond grips. CONDITION: The bore is superb. Bluing is approximately 90 percent overall, with light thinning at the muzzle, leading edge of the cylinder, top of the back strap and over the guard. A scattering of minor freckles and turning ring is also evident. Grips are solid, with thinned finish and darkened accordingly. Mechanics are strong. A faint Social Security number has been lightly scratched into the inside of the grip frame. Thankfully, it is very shallow. INCLUSIONS: The box is in fair condition, with the lid markings fading and a trace of the correct serial number on the bottom. Brush, rod, swap and screwdriver are present. The original warranty card is also present (with serial), along with a wonderful 1982 sales receipt that states “Do Not Call Wife”. The price is firm and layaway is available. $3,750 plus shipping.
