Gene Simillion left hand Classic Hunter .416 Remington Magnum. Completed in 2000 and based on a Winchester Model 70, serial G173426 is Simillion’s best grade rifle. Features include a Krieger 22-inch chrome moly barrel with removable Borden Accuracy brake (total length 23.5 inches), banded sling swivel stud, contoured bottom metal with inside the bow release button, solid magazine box that holds four cartridges, jeweled bolt body, screwless rear sling swivel base and Talley bases. Simillion reshaped the rear tang, trued and lapped the action and bolt, opened the rear bridge, reworked the magazine box, added a new follower and spring, contoured the rear base to match the lines of the action, added a second recoil lug and inlaid an aluminum rail in the barrel channel for additional strength. The stock is bedded on twin aluminum pillars and both lugs are also glassed. The AAA Walnut stock itself features an ebony forend tip, shadow line cheek piece, 24 lines-per inch wrap around bordered checkering, color case and engraved cross bolts, color case pistol grip cap and rear sling swivel stud, and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.2 pounds. Length-of-pull is 13.65 inches. CONDITION: The satin blue of the barreled action and matte (titanium aluminum nitride) of the brake are 99%, with light thinning of the bolt knob. The hand-rubbed oil finish of the stock stands at 98%, with only slight scuffing from a single safari. Wood integrity is about 97%, with scattered minor field impressions and slightly flattened checkering on the underside of the forearm. The price is firm and layaway is available. $4,250 plus shipping.
