Serial 295878 features a 23.75-inch custom (unmarked as to maker) heavy sporter barrel with a tapered crown, banded front sight with white-beaded blade, banded sling swivel stud, island rear sight with adjustable blade, Talley bases, reshaped and checkered bolt release button, four-panel checkered teardrop bolt knob and custom drop box bottom metal with an inside-the-bow floorplate release button. Stocked with a heavily marbled and rich-grained blank of English walnut accented with an ebony forend tip with widow’s peak, 26 lines-per-inch borderless wrap-around checkering, double crossbolts with ebony plugs, steel grip cap, cheek piece with shadow line and a Howell-type inletted sling swivel stud on a pedestal. The action is bedded on aluminum pillars and glassed its entire length. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.8 pounds. Length-of-pull is 13.75 inches over a Pachmayr Decelerator pad. Drop (straight comb) is 1 inch and cast off is approximately .375-inch. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Metal finish (rust blue) is about 97 percent, with small, scattered rubs. Wood finish is about 98 percent and wood integrity about 96 percent, with a few minor impressions.
