Custom .450/400 3-inch double rifle built on a Holland & Holland Royal shotgun receiver from 1888. Serial number 12028 has 22-inch barrels with a matted rib that incorporates a pair of leaf express sights (one standing and unmarked, folder indicating “150”), along with Recknagel Eramatic quick-release mounts securing a Swarovski Z6 1.7-10×42 scope with plex reticle. Barrels are regulated with Hornady ammunition. Stocked in exhibition-grade English walnut, the splinter forend retains the original hardware and the original trigger guard has been reshaped for a pistol grip. The butt stock is highlighted by a trapdoor grip cap and bordered pancake cheekpiece. Wood finish is hand-rubbed oil, the ideal compliment to the rust blue of the barrels and bright color case of the receiver. Features include ejectors (timed), automatic safety, wonderfully tuned triggers (articulated front) and sling swivel studs. Maker is unknown. ENGRAVING: The receiver is graced with full-coverage bouquet and scroll, the pattern continuing over the top lever, guard and extending along the tangs. It also reappears on the mounts, forend furniture, safety button and trapdoor grip cap. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 11 pounds with scope, 9.4 pounds sans. Length-of-pull is 14.5 inches, drops are 1.5 and 2.5 inches and cast (off) is approximately .5-inch. CONDITION: New and unfired as restocked and rebarreled. Engraving has softened. Ammunition from Hornady and Kynoch is readily available. The price is firm and a layaway program is available. $23,500 plus shipping.
