Greifelt double rifle drilling (Bock drilling) with .30-40 Krag barrels over 16 gauge. Serial 37529 (matching 3x) features three 19-inch barrels (the two rifle barrels are sleeved to .30-40 Krag) over a 16 gauge shotgun barrel with an open choke and 2.75-inch chamber. The matted rib begins with a stippled ramp front sight base topped by a white-beaded Lyman blade. The rear portion of the rib bevels to accommodate a dovetailed rear sight base with two leafs (one fixed, another folding), along with a bases for claw mount rings (not included). Additional features include cocking indicators, side clips, bushed strikers, barrel selector, mechanical safety, extractor and a barrel-mounted sling swivel stud. MARKINGS: Action wears the serial, proofs and is marked “NOTENGLISHMAKE (no doubt added with some degree of post-war nationalistic pride). The shotgun barrel is serialed, marked to its gauge and chamber length, and also bears “11/37”, “A.K. Horst” and “1 1/8 oz”. The underside of the rifle barrels are both marked to the sleeves. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 9.4 pounds and length-of-pull is 13.5 inches over the Pachmayr Old English pad. CONDITION: Barrels are on face and bores are bright and strong. Mechanics operate properly. Barrel finish has browned and thinned to about 40 percent. The scalloped action has gone over to silver and slightly tarnished in spots, but the engraving remains sharp. The trigger guard wears a newer coating of polished blue. The forend wood is very good, with sharp (possibly refreshed) checkering. The stock has a slight hairline at the point of the upper tang. CASE: An aftermarket takedown case is included, but the interior must be reset to accommodate. The price is firm and layaway is available. $4,000 plus shipping.
