Serial 0947 is an early rifle that features a 23-inch barrel with brass-beaded blade front sight, banded sling swivel stud, island rear sight with single standing express blade, EAW quick-release bases, full-length Mauser claw extractor for true controlled round feeding and extraction, three-position wing safety, drop box magazine (4+1 capacity, tight) with an inside-the-bow release and a cloverleaf tang. Rounds can be individually hand-fed into the magazine with the extractor “snapping over” the rim as the bolt closes. Feeding, extraction and ejection are smooth and dependable. STOCK: The AA-grade walnut stock is dressed with an ebony forend tip, fine borderless wrap checkering, twin capped crossbolts, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, steel grip cap, inletted sling swivel stud and a leather-covered recoil pad. The action is bedded at both the recoil lug and tang with a pressure point at the forend tip. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.2 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.3 inches. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Metal finish is well over 90 percent with a few minor rubs and and modest thinning over the bottom metal and bolt knob. The stock is approximately 90 percent with two impressions on the underside of the forearm, scattered minor impressions and rubs, and what may be a stabilized hairline at the tang (If so, it appears to be under the original finish and is also addressed by the bedding glass).
