Chapuis Progress .450/400 Nitro Express ejector double rifle. Serial 64254 has 25.5-inch barrels with a brass-beaded blade and flip-over moon front sight, quarter rib wearing one fixed and three folding express leafs (folders marked 100/150/200 with sighting lines). The rib is also drilled/tapped for mounts. The scalloped boxlock action has a mechanical safety, double triggers, rolled guard, extended tang ending in a steel grip cap and bushed strikers. Barrels wear a polished blue finish while the action is color case. STOCK: The stock is shaped from fine, strong-grained walnut. Appointments include a tapering beavertail forend, open pistol grip with modest palm swell, traditional (pancake) scalloped cheek rest, double-bordered wrap checkering, sling loops and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. ENGRAVING: The action is dressed in full coverage shaded leaf and vine surrounding a Cape buffalo bust (bottom). The pattern extends along the rib, forend release, opening lever, tangs and guard. ACCURACY: The included test target shows two shots with a center-to-center spread of 1.35 inches (50 meters, Hornady DGX 400-grain bullets). DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.8 pounds. Length-of-pull is 15.6 inches. Drops are 1.3 and 2.4 inches. Cast off is approximately .35-inch. CONDITION: Possibly unfired and certainly never hunted. The bores are pristine and the action so tight it feels unworked. Finish condition over both wood and metal is nearly 100 percent, with but hints of having rubbed inside the case during transport. INCLUSIONS: The original Negrini case, test target, proof certificate and warranty booklet are present. The price is firm and layaway is available. $13,000 plus shipping.
