Borovnik .375 H&H Magnum sidelock double rifle. Made in Austria by Borovnik and imported by Conco Arms, serial 404833 sports 25.75-inch barrels with a pedestaled front ramp sight topped by a beaded blade, underrib sling swivel stud and a quarter rib with a three-leaf (one fixed express with silver-inlayed sighting line and two unmarked and likely green folders) rear sight and integral claw mounts. Ejectors, ribbed cocking indicators, mechanical safety and an articulated front trigger round out the mechanics. Stocked in heavily-figured English walnut, the sleek beavertail forend and butt are dressed up with partially-bordered 26 lines-per-inch checkering. The butt is shaped around extended tangs with an elegant reverse taper on the comb point and has a superb scalloped pancake cheek rest accented by a shadow line. ENGRAVING: Full coverage vine and scroll highlights the action and continues over the forend latch, top lever, guard, tangs, grip cap and studs. Both sight ramps are textured and the barest hint of the action pattern appears on each one, as well as the barrels (just ahead of the action). Initials “WBN” appear in gold on the grip cap. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 9.8 pounds (sans scope). Length-of-pull is 14.4 inches, drops are 1.5 and 2.75 inches, and cast off is approximately .40-inch. CONDITION: The bores are strong and bright, with sharp rifling. Barrels are full on face and the opening lever rests dead center. Blue over the barrels, lever, tangs and grip cap is approximately 97 percent, mostly from a small rub near the muzzle of the left barrel. Action finish has slightly dulled and stands at about 90 percent. Wood is at least 95 percent, with a few minor rubs and impressions. OPTIC: A Swarovski Habicht Nova 1.5-6×42 scope with a plex reticle is cradled in a set of superb claw mounts. Optically clear and apparently mechanically sound, a small bump (received while dismounted during shipping) shows at the rear edge of the adjustable ocular housing. CASE: An unmarked leather takedown case is included and shows at 90 percent condition. It holds brushes, a trio of screwdrivers and an oil bottle. (The pictured snaps are not included). The price is firm and layaway is available. $15,000 plus shipping.
