Downey’s Africa by Anthony Cullen. Published by Cassell in 1959, this stands as one of the most interesting biographies ever written about a professional hunter. Downey was the right kind of fellow and chanced to be born at just the right time to live the last days of wild Africa hunting her great game. The book remains in good condition, with a former owner’s name pen-scrawled on the inside cover. There is also some sunning to the cover and light staining on the inside, but the read makes it worthwhile. The price is firm. $100 plus shipping. Proceeds benefit the Dallas Safari Club Foundation.
